Whitechapel Gallery is back. Bigger and better.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Whitechapel Gallery has been closed for some time… while the good Whitechapel folk carry out a £10.5 million expansion which will see the gallery double in size by incorporating the old library building attached.

It reopens on Sunday 5 April with Isa Genzken’s exhibition Open Sesame. It’s a retrospective with works of photography, paint, found objects and even architecture from the 1970′s through to present.

In case you haven’t heard of her, Genzken (of Germany) is a major European artist who enjoyed critical success at the 2007 Venice Biennale.
